Oklahoma Schools Add 1921 Tulsa Race Riot to Curriculum

Be A Novelist

Greenwood Street Sign – Tulsa OK

In this series of inside glimpses of the infamous 1921 Tulsa Race Riot, I have taken you from the beginning causes, through the actual events, up to the present day.

In a few short years, the riot’s 100th anniversary will be commemorated. What will be remembered? What will be shared? What will we have learned?

In February, 2018, the Oklahoma School system formally announced that their school curriculum will now include a segment that teaches about the riot. Many students no doubt will be hearing about the event for the first time.

It was against this backdrop that I authored the Tulsa Series novels back in the 1990s. At that time, very little was known about the event. It was still buried under a lot of misinformation and a great deal of cover-up.

It’s fortunate that the truth is finally being revealed.
