My “Close-To-The-Earth” Getaway

In my most recent blog, I talked about the joys of being close to the earth. Just a couple weeks later, I had the opportunity to enjoy a brief getaway which, quite literally, took me close to the earth – and the sky, and trees, and water, and wildlife.  My little cabin was small, but sufficient. I was still technologically connected, but only by my I-phone which I kept off much of the time. It was glorious.

It’s amazing how fast-paced life can be. My major goal was to be quiet – and that meant body, mind, and spirit. Interesting how long it took to really wind down.

I walked down the back roads through the woods.

I marveled at how grass grew in the middle of a large boulder.

I examined wild flowers that grew with such abandon.

I explored the ruins of an old stone farmhouse.

I gazed at the quiet of the water.

My eyes were rested. My soul was rested. I came home much refreshed. Be A Novelist

We all tend to forget just how desperately our writer’s proclivity hungers for this type of fix. I’m filled with a new resolve not to wait so long for my next close-to-the-earth getaway!

  1. Amen to that. A few days on the lake can cure a lot of built-up stress. It’s also, a great place to write!!

  2. Agreed. Perhaps next time I’ll write. This trip was just to defuse! I know you understand! :^)
